Remembering Matt Lalumia
It is with a heavy heart that I post this very sad news. My friend, Teammate, and one of the founding members of our Club, Matt Lalumia, passed away this morning after being hit by a car while out on a run. Please keep Matt, his wife Vivian and the rest of his family in your prayers.

"Somebody mentioned that Matt was a big part of Clifton Club calling itself the friendliest club in NJ, and now I see that’s a true statement. Matt was the tipping point for me to getting more involved in running and with Clifton RRC. Before joining Clifton, I used to attend the track meets for one of the other running groups in the area. Even though the track meets were great, the group was very ‘cliquey’, and I remember clearly one time when somebody brought beers and drinks, and they went out of their way to avoid inviting the new guys to join them. Then I attended Matt's bun run for the first time. Jose Fernandez and I were new and didn’t know we were supposed to bring a change of clothes, and there we were sweating in the middle of Matt's living room in winter, and Matt just gave me a big smile, told me, 'Well, that happens. We runners sweat,' and after that I got hooked on running and on the club."

Saturday, July 17, 2021, the day of Matt Lalumia's funeral, William Ash ran the Packanack Lake 5k, a race he and Matt were registered to run together, wearing both his and Matt's bib. A fitting tribute.
